WFMW: The non-scrapbooker's memory book
I am not a scrapbooker. I think they are beautiful and special, but I'm just not into creating things like that myself. It is time-consuming, expensive, and clutter-creating. My non-scrap-booker alternative is to create a memory book each year for my daughter, choosing favorite pictures and memories from the year. I used Shutterfly for the book about her s
second year of life and did a day-in-her-life theme. I can see the project evolving over the years to become highlights of the year. The book is high quality, and the photo software is easy to use and includes a variety of templates. This book cost me about $20 -- pricey, yes, but I *know* I would have spent that buying scrapbooking materials that just sat in a closet. This way, I actually *have* the book. :-)For more Works for Me Wednesday ideas, visit Rocks in My Dryer.

This may be just the thing for me. Because I keep getting overwhelmed at the thought of going through the digital images, printing them out, buying an album and supplies, then arranging them in a book with captions and cute designs. It's just too much.
This sounds much simpler and I'd finally have some kind of real book that I could flip through without having to boot my computer.
I love Shutterfly! A friend of mine gave out these photo books of wedding photos to all of her attendants as thank you gifts for being in her wedding.
I made a story book for my daughter with pictures of all the people who love her. We live about 100 miles from most of the family, so it is nice to be able to read about her grandparents who are far away. It says things like, "This is Aunt Megan, she loves to read books to you and dress you in cute outfits!" and "This is Grandma Diana. She loves you. When you're older, she might teach you how to fly an airplane!"

We're doing this for Sophie, too, because...like you...I just can't bear the thought of hundreds of stickers and things spread out on my table for the weeks (months?) it would take me to complete a "real" scrapbook. I'm using Photoworks, but Shutterfly is great, too -- that's what we used to create our Christmas calendars for the family. I LOVE your Day-in-the-Life theme! Sophie is really into birthdays and the birthday song (and...ahem...the birthday CAKE) right now, so maybe I'll make her one of those pocket books about her birthday. Thanks for the ideas!
I love this type of thing.
brilliant...I hate the clutter of scrapbooking also...I know people who have a whole room set aside for this
much better solution for beautiful memories!
